Founded by Eddie Shapiro in 2000, SmartTouch designs enhance life’s natural rhythms with bespoke whole-home systems that complement living spaces without commandeering them. For example, Eddie’s passion is the delicate balance of lighting design, fixtures, and control to maximize the ambiance of natural light that enters the home throughout the day.

Our History

Founder and Chief Designer Eddie Shapiro created SmartTouch USA in 2000 to provide luxury whole-home technology solutions for new residential construction in the Maryland and Virginia markets.

Before founding SmartTouch, Eddie started a home security business called SecureX USA in 1983, which has since become SmartTouch’s in-house security division. The customer care and support Eddie developed in this role continue to inform every home technology design we produce.

Eddie Shapiro has been an industry leader in residential technology design for more than four decades. Today, Eddie is a nationally sought-after designer and SmartTouch is a leading light for innovation and luxury.

Eddie’s masterful vision and meticulous attention to detail are uniquely suited to residential design, where everyday spaces can be elevated and transformed. Eddie’s pursuit of perfected home experiences has fueled SmartTouch since the beginning.

Recently, Eddie concluded a three-year term on the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) Board that included establishing industry standards and lobbying for legislative change on behalf of integrators and technology installers.
