Estate with a total area of 15,481 square feet in need of interior design and premium equipment for a cohesive, tailored aesthetic
SmartTouch collaborated extensively with the clients to understand their requirements and aspirations for this estate, which included a 12,000 sq. ft. residence. The goal was for the technology to enhance the space without being visually obtrusive.
The heart of this project included a sophisticated network of control systems, distributed audio and video solutions, home theater setups, window treatments, lighting controls, HVAC management, and comprehensive security and surveillance measures.
One of the most significant challenges was the installation of a very large custom shade for the home’s stairwell, measuring 103″W x 270″H. This required an intricate custom design, which involved close collaboration with the Lutron design team to ensure both functionality and aesthetics were met. Installing several other shades in the home was also challenging due to their extreme heights.
We engineered Lutron shades for the entire space. Without an interior designer to assist with finish and fabric selections, we took on that role to support the homeowner. This involved providing expert guidance on materials and finishes to ensure that the final look of the shades complemented the overall design of the home.
Our system was a hybrid of Lutron and Crestron. Integrating Josh.ai voice control was another challenge. We aimed to provide the homeowner with additional ease of use in controlling shades throughout the home, which involved configuring the system to work seamlessly with the existing setup and ensuring reliable performance.
Careful planning, collaboration, and problem-solving delivered a successful outcome for the homeowner.
Integrated Lutron motorized shades have significantly improved the homeowner’s comfort and convenience by providing effortless control of natural light and ease of use. The ability to automate shading according to time of day and sun position has also added a layer of sophistication and functionality to the home.
The project’s complexity required exceptional skill and careful coordination. Collaboration with both the builder and homeowner was key in addressing these challenges.
A longer-than-normal project window also allowed for additional time to reevaluate the quality and functionality of the theater and the lack of acoustics. The theater was originally contracted under the builder, but we worked directly with the homeowner to complete upgrades with the finest products available and, most importantly, an engineered wall system from Officina Acustica. Our team’s resilience and adaptability during this project was truly inspiring.

In fact, the client was ecstatic during a training session and demonstration of the final system. He was particularly impressed with the movie theater and the outdoor James speakers.
